The Government Of Indonesia presented the newest opportunities on marine infrastrucutre and tourism for Spanish companies:
A comission of gubernamental representatives from the Republic of Indonesia encouraged the Spanish companies present to invest and engage in Indonesia’s maritime and tourism sector during the business seminar that took part yesterday and was organized by Nexus Fostering Partnership in conjunction with the Indonesian Embassy.
During the event, a delegation from the Asian major power explained the investment opportunities offered by the national strategy on marine development, among which are inlcuded the construction of 24 new strategic ports and the increase of the national fleet through new vessel constructions; all collected in the framework of the Action Plan carried forward by the Indonesian Government in order to expand and upgrade the national marine infrastructures and improve the conexion between the archipelago’s ports, formed by over 17,000 small islands.
Other strategic sectors which the National Development Plan 2015-2019 pretend to tackle with a public investment of 145,000 million Euros include Transport Infrastructures (roads and railways, ports and airports), Energy, Tourism and natural resources such as mining, agricultural and fishing.
The Director at Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) London , Nurul Ichwan, reminded the attendees that Indonesia is still the biggest economy in the whole of Southern Asia and that is predicted to experience growth in 2016 accounting between 5 and 5,4% due to the drive of internal demand and backed up by the signifacnt raise and strengthening of the middle class.
The Ambassador of Indonesia in Spain, Honorable Mrs. Yuli Mumpuni, pointed out that the Spanish investment in Indonesia is “very modest” and is still far from its potential, given the fact that in 2013 it amounted to 23,5 million Euros and has descreased significantly in the last few years.
Thus she spurred Spanish companies to exploit the appeal of the Indonesian reef and boost the investment in sectors like tourism, taking the example of succesful firms who have already benefited from taking part and investing such as Meliá Hotels.
